Liesl Codrington is the Founder and Director of Vaere Social—a consultancy dedicated to embedding social impact, inclusion, and resilience into the way we plan, design, and deliver places.
A widely recognised leader in social sustainability, Liesl brings over 20 years of experience at the intersection of planning, social policy, infrastructure, and stakeholder engagement. She works with governments, industry, and communities to navigate complex policy and planning challenges—combining systems thinking, strategic advisory, and a deep understanding of human experience to deliver long-term value.
Liesl has led high-impact projects across NSW, the ACT, Victoria, Queensland, and South Australia—spanning infrastructure, renewable energy, education, transport, housing, and health. Her portfolio includes the Snowy Mountains and Wagga Wagga Special Activation Precincts, Ginninderry, Harbourside, and dozens of social impact assessments and strategic planning initiatives across government and private sectors.
A skilled researcher and communicator, Liesl distils complex data and lived experience into insights that drive better decisions. Her work in neurodivergent-inclusive planning, wellbeing frameworks, and social infrastructure strategy is helping shift how policy, design, and engagement are delivered in real-world contexts. She contributes to best-practice thinking through the ACT Social Sustainability Committee of the Property Council of Australia and broader national networks.
Known for her warm, people-first approach, Liesl is committed to amplifying underrepresented voices and reshaping how social outcomes are embedded into planning systems. Her work bridges strategic thinking with inclusive delivery—helping clients deliver outcomes that are socially responsive, future-ready, and grounded in community realities.
“We have a responsibility to shape places that stand the test of time—socially, environmentally, and politically. That starts with putting people at the centre of planning and investing in long-term resilience.”
